The Reverend James M. Hairston
The Rev'd James M. Hairston was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Boston Public Schools and then Boston College where he earned a B.A. in Political Science (minors in Economics and African/African Diaspora Studies). Fr. James taught 6th and 7th grade while earning a Master of Education. Fr. James went on to Andover Newton Theological School to earn a Master of Divinity in Moral Theology.
Fr. James has served at Church of the Redeemer, Norwood first as an Assisting Priest, then the Assistant Vicar. He served as the Vicar until Easter 2016.
He also serves as a Chaplain in the Massachusetts National Guard, and as an Education Advisor & Political Science Instructor at a county prison. He is also pursing a doctorate degree in Ascetical Theology at Nashotah House Theological Seminary, WI.
Fr. James is happily married to Elizabeth and they are the proud parents of a son Jay, and a daughter Sarayu. In his “spare time” Fr. James enjoys spending time with his family, watching or playing sports and reading historical fiction.
